Learn to Paint Course in January 2026

Learn to Paint Course in January 2026

LEARN TO PAINT COURSE WILL BE OVER THREE WEEKS: WEDNESDAY JANUARY  14TH, 21ST AND 28TH
1 PM – 3 PM.

This acrylic painting course is Ideal for beginners!

This course is £90 and includes all materials and tuition. Refreshments are also provided.

So are you ready to release your inner artist and be a creative?
Painting is not just about creating art; it’s a therapeutic journey that allows you to unwind, destress, and tap into the soothing rhythm of colours and forms. Connect with fellow beginners who share a similar passion.

No prior experience is required – just a willingness to embrace your artistic spirit!

Forget about the intimidating blank canvas or paper, I will be with you every step of the way. Step-by-step guidance is crafted for those who have never held a brush. You will discover the joy of expressing yourself through each stroke.

Throughout the day you will learn the basics of colour mixing, brush techniques, and composition in a supportive environment.
We will be using acrylic paints as these are one of the most versatile, especially for beginners.

Week 1: We will learn about colour theory, the colour wheel, mixing and blending colours. We will also look at which brushes to use.
Week 2: Once mastered the colour mixing we can move on to looking at skies, clouds and sunsets. How we apply the paint and which brushes to use. We will finish with painting a sky in an impressionist style.
Week 3: In this session we will look at the study of trees, again looking at how we apply paint and which brushes to use and introduce palette knives.

It is advisable to wear old clothes, but there are disposable aprons for your use. All materials are provided and you will go home with your finished painting at the end of the day on week 2 and week 3

Folks who are wanting to learn and experiment with different capture techniques

They will run every Monday. You need to book online or speak to me via email/phone call if you prefer to pay in another way.

What is Click Chat Focus?

Think of it as time set aside for conversation, connection, and building confidence with your photography.

It’s not a club, not a course, and there’s no pressure to attend every week.

We meet over a brew and share:

  • What we’ve been trying
  • What we want to understand
  • Simple ways to see the world differently through a camera or phone
  • Ways to use your preferred device to create images
  • There will be opportunities to ask about specific techniques
  • Best locations and angles
  • How to see the light and shadow that will give your images depth
  • Learn how to use your camera (or phone) with confidence
  • How to take better photos of family/friends
  • Each meet will bring new advice and challenges that we can overcome together

Most beginners struggle with things like:

  • Not knowing how to use their camera/phone properly (leaving it on “auto”)

  • Confusion about settings — aperture, shutter, ISO all sounding too technical

  • Blurry photos from shaky hands or missed focus

  • Poor lighting — photos too dark, too bright, or odd colours indoors

  • Flat or boring shots from not knowing how to compose

  • Struggling to capture natural expressions in people

  • Overwhelmed by editing apps or software

  • Feeling awkward using a camera in public

  • Comparing their photos to others and thinking they’re “not good enough”

Moving forward, sessions will also include:

  • Experimenting with different styles of photography (portraits, still life, street, landscapes, abstract)

  • Trying out simple editing apps and tools to improve results straight from your phone or camera

  • Opportunities for 1:1 focus time during sessions, where we zoom in on a particular problem you’re facing and help you move past it

Some weeks you’ll pick up a new idea. Other weeks you might bring your own ideas to the room.

Every session stands on its own — so you can drop in when it suits you. Think of it as time set aside for conversation, connection, experimenting, and building confidence with your photography.

📅 Mondays | 1pm – 3pm
