This exhibition will be showcasing beautiful artwork by Rob Edmondson and Jackie Williams.
Having grown up by the sea in Lyme Regis, Jackie has featured this in many of her paintings, along with semi-abstract seascapes that evoke the spirit of coastal living. Some are inspired by memories of places visited on her travels in both the UK and Europe and, more recently, South Africa in 2024. Others are pure abstract impressionism, where colour and texture create a feeling or mood and replace fine representational detail.
Rob regards composition as being of primary importance within his work and describes his work as ‘representational’. He likes to manipulate the paint, using techniques appropriate to achieving the visual effect he is looking to create. Colour and detail are significant components of all of his artwork.
Rob is a proud Lancashire lad and his landscapes are primarily based in the UK but some of his landscapes are places he has visited abroad including New Zealand, the USA and The Mediterranean.
Rob tries to capture the ‘soul’, in essence, the ‘mood’ of each special place. Both Rob and Jackie have admired each other’s work and feel that their different styles of work would compliment each other.
Rob has been fortunate to meet Jackie in recent times. ‘She has energy and artistic ability. Jackie creates artwork from a completely different mindset. Her work is generally abstracted, visually very effective and, as the title of our exhibition identifies, her genre contrasts with my paintings. I love the concept of putting these opposites on show together in one exhibition’.
This exhibition is on for one week-end only running on Saturday 14th June and Sunday 15th June from 12 – 4 pm.
PREVIEW FRIDAY 13TH JUNE FROM 6.30 PM – 9 PM. Wine & nibbles included.
