Progressive Painting Course in June

This is a follow up course for those who have already covered our beginners level. It will run OVER THREE WEEKS in JUNE on THURSDAY EVENINGS 11TH, 18TH AND 25TH from 7 pm – 9 pm.
 
This course is £90 and includes all materials and tuition. Refreshments are also provided.
 
 If you’ve completed our Beginner’s Acrylic Painting Course and are eager to take your skills to the next level, our  Follow-On Acrylic Painting Course is the perfect next step in your creative journey.
 
Although designed specifically for returning students, this course is also ideal for anyone wishing to improve their skills and build on the foundational techniques you already know—colour mixing, brush control, layering, and composition—while introducing more advanced methods to help you deepen your artistic expression.
 
Each session includes guided demonstrations, personalised feedback, and plenty of time to develop your own unique style. You’ll complete three more pieces throughout the course, gaining confidence and discovering fresh ways to bring your ideas to life on the canvas.
 
We will be looking at coastal scene, mountain view with lake and a still life with fruit. We will follow on with using our brushes, palette knives but also introducing some new techniques.
 
Whether you’re hoping to refine your technique, expand your creativity, or maybe just simply enjoy spending more time painting within a supportive group. 
 
Whatever the reason, we can’t wait to see what you create next!
 
It is advisable to wear old clothes, but there are disposable aprons for your use. All materials are provided and you will go home with your finished painting at the end of each week..
N.B. 
Single sessions are available at £35 each if you can’t commit to all three dates.

Lino Cutting Workshop in May 2026

Lino Cutting Workshop SUNDAY 24th May from 1 pm – 4 pm BL6 studios in Horwich.
 
This session costs £40 which includes all materials. Places are limited (max 6) so please book quickly to avoid disappointment. Tuition by Julia Entwistle
 
You will be shown in the use of basic lino cutting tools, how to handle your lino tile and and you will be creating your own design from our books and images that are available to use.
 
This relief printmaking workshop is ideal for beginners or for those wishing to try a new method and different techniques (use of registration and colour )
 
You can of course bring one of your own designs that you would like to work from. (The tile size is approximately 8″ x 6″ )
 
It is advisable to wear old clothes, although a disposable apron is available.
 
Tea/coffee and biscuits are provided.

This event is being held on SATURDAY 30th MAY from 12 – 4 pm and will include a light lunch (vegetarian and vegan option available) attendees can bring their own if they so wish. Tea and coffee are provided throughout the day.
 
There will be two poses of 40 mins before the lunch break. After lunch there will be a two hour pose which will allow you enough time to use all mediums including paints, should you wish to do so.
 
There will be some easels available plus drawing boards.
 
Artists are advised to bring their own materials for this session.

Tutored Life Drawing Sessions

A TUTORED COURSE OVER SIX WEEKS: April – May

Wednesday mornings 10 – 12 pm

*No prior experience is required – just a willingness to embrace your artistic spirit!

So are you ready to release your inner artist and be a creative?

The course will include materials such as heavy-weight cartridge papers, pencils, charcoals, and pastels. The studio is equipped with easels and drawing boards. You can bring your own materials if you so wish.

The course structure will include:

Week 1: This will involve ‘Measuring and Proportions’ as we will learn to measure down the body which will help to gain the right proportions of the form.

Week 2: We will learn how to shape the head/face and features of the body.

Week 3: Putting it all together from weeks 1 & 2 measuring and shaping and including facial features.

Week 4: Tonal and Blending using pencils/charcoals/pastels.

Week 5: Using different methods of drawing techniques and mixed media with the use of assorted materials i.e newspaper/newspaper print/brown paper etc

Week 6: This will involve bringing all of the above lessons together for the final drawings, including paint materials.

Some weeks the lesson plan may vary to suit how we have progressed or try something new that may arise throughout the course.

There will be a tea/coffee break midway through the morning, which also allows everyone to chat about their progress and further discussions about their work. 

*This course is £130 and is ideal for beginners or for those wishing to improve their drawing skills 
These tutored life drawing sessions will run for a block of six weeks each Wednesday morning from 10 – 12 pm.
If anyone finds they have to miss one of the sessions for any valid reason then they are welcome to attend one of the Wednesday evening life drawing sessions or Tuesday mornings instead (these are untutored)

Expect to explore richer textures, experiment with new tools and mediums that challenge and inspire you.

We will be looking at coastal scenes, sunset skies and a still life. We will follow on with using our brushes, palette knives but also introducing some new techniques.

Each session includes guided demonstrations, personalised feedback, and plenty of time to develop your own unique style. You’ll complete three  pieces on canvas throughout the course.

This course is £90 and will run in FEBRUARY OVER THREE WEEKS Wednesday 11th, 18th and 25th in the afternoons from 1 pm – 3 pm.
